Overnight, several homes and vehicles were burglarized, with at least one attempt known to have occurred in the Half Moon Bay subdivision.

Pearland PD gave chase but at this time, the suspects are still on the loose.

You can minimize your risk of being targeted by:

  • Parking vehicles inside your garage if possible.
  • Removing all valuables from your vehicle if parked outside.  Also remove your garage door remote and lock your vehicle.  If thieves don’t see anything worth stealing, they’ll move on to the next target.  Consider parking under a street lamp if nearby.
  • Installing solar powered or electrically wired motion sensing lights.  Battery operated lights may go dead just when you need them.
  • Alternatively, leaving your garage and front porch lights on (or use timers to turn on at night/off in the morning).
  • Installing security cameras.  You don’t have to install high cost traditional cameras.  Several companies, including Nest (formerly Dropcam), Ring, and Netgear, offer small but powerful battery operated cameras.  These connect to your wifi network and save recordings to the cloud (for a fee).
  • Keeping your alarm systems on at all times.  Make sure that all high risk windows (i.e., ground floor) have sensors and/or glass break sensors nearby.

Above all, stay alert neighbors!
